My husband And I bought some land here in Nebraska at the end of last year.

There is an old horse-drawn manure spreader on the property. It’s in some pretty over-grown grass, so it’s hard to see, but it looks really neat.

It is clear that it used to be painted green, and there’s a mark that looks like a JD on the wheels. I’m assuming it’s a John Deer. There’s a gear box that says “Keep this case filled with oil” on the outside. 010D1BFA-8326-4508-9985-8A7AB77C4CC0.jpeg C06BB619-693C-4BBC-93AC-CC134F2FB29E.jpeg DEADCBB0-5FD7-44BD-A903-61D02E105572.jpeg Not sure what year it would have been used. Anyone know anything about old farm equipment?

It’s 4 acres of mostly wooded land, but I’m full of ideas of how to use it while we wait to build!

Neat stuff. You're going to have a lot of fun discovering things on your property!

I think I have treasure hunter blood in my heritage or something, because I can get lost in “discovering” things.

There’s also what looks like maybe an old cultivator, but it is all mangled and twisted. The metal is very solid and heavy, so maybe we will just scrap it. I want to try to make a little income from the property to help us pay it off faster.

if that manure spreader is John Deere, ask around before scrapping. I bet there's a collector! John Deere nuts are nutso.

Using the number on the wheel hub (or such) I found this Directions and Repair catalog in PDF. It is effective 1930. Perhaps you can compare and see if it looks like yours.

Here are a few pages as examples if you don't want to download the whole thing.

    This is great, thank you!
Yes, it looks very much like this! most of the wood is rotted away, so that makes it tough to visualize, but the front wheels are smaller and close together like this one. The back part look exactly the same. I kicked myself when I got home and realized I didn’t get a photo from the back side.

I won’t scrap the spreader. It’s pretty neat looking. There’s another pile of twisted metal that looks like it could have been a cultivator or something. I’ll grab the pic here. 2B31BE77-B1EA-42A2-90C8-67CA72A8BD47.jpeg
