Picked this up at one of my favorite thrifts.
1 1/2" x 2 1/4" The pin part is a safety pin? I hope someone can read Russian and tell me what it says on the back, And I am sure it tells a story too?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The word on the left is the town where it was made: Mstera

The middle in quotation marks is the name of the picture. Looks like "Danila-Master" I haven't tried to see what that means.

On the right is the name of the person who painted it. Looks like Bychenkov N. These usually have the last name of the person first, followed by their first initial. So N. Bychenkov. Probably a painter employed by the company or factory that made it.

When the "Nicholas and Alexandria" exhibition was do the rounds of several cities in the US, the gift shop sold pins like the one you have. I was a guide for the exhibition in Mobile and purchased several of them myself. Most of the scenes painted on them were about Russian folklore or fairy tales. Some were signed and some were not. Most of them had safety pins just like the one on your pin. I have given several away as gifts along with the story that went with each pin. The pins look wonderful on coat lapels and women's dresses. They usually attack attention and the person owning the pin can then tell the story represented by on the pin. You should hold your as a special treasure.
