Take everything they want and then .... digger /picker sale the rest? Priced by the boxload rather than the piece? (seller supplies the boxes) Donate what they don't sell. If they do that, some items they would have wanted will slip through the cracks, but given the timetable there isn't much else to do. Box up the leftovers in the garage and see if the Sally in the area does pickups.

The realtor has recommended this person, and I would be very grateful for any guidance folks have. She seems to have very mixed reviews (people either love or hate her): http://www.tagsalesbymona.com/

I suspect I will end up having one sale for the stuff we can get through by our deadline, and moving the unsorted stuff to a storage unit so I can sort it out there… followed by another sale.

Where are you? Because that sounds like a tempting idea.

Sorry - I couldn't get past the hideous bedroom on her home page. I'm so shallow.

    @Born2it
I am going to say a hard no to using that person as an estate sale runner IMHO.
She has lost so much of her following because of bad practices. She plays favorites with some of her customers. This has been going on for years.

Most of her workers are nasty, rude, mean and the list goes on and on. And that means many people avoid her sales like the plague.

I had an issue with one of her workers about 5 years ago and a good friend of mine also had an issue so bad she won't go to her sales.

She has been in business for a long time and I have known her for a long time along with her workers and if it were me, I would not use her.
    Just my 2 cents.

Here is another estate sale runner I know for years.
I like them (husband and wife) and perhaps you can see if they meet your needs.

Whatever you decide, if you can give us a shout out for the sale date that would be super in case some of us live near there.

The bad characters I know are all, thankfully from your perspective, from the wrong area.

So what’s the latest? Just two weeks left. Are you going to sort and run your own sale (which would be my choice, putting a lot aside to look at later) or did you find someone to do a sale on super short notice?

I look at it this way - you have a house full of stuff there that you already own. So rather than looking through other people’s stuff at their sales, you can find treasures in this stuff you already own (but have never seen before). Just give yourself enough time.

Yikes! No wonder nobody replied, I failed to click “post”.

I’m taking somewhat of a hybrid approach. I did find someone (thanks @pearlsnblume!) who will be running a sale on March 5th. I obtained a delay in the closing date (yay!) so I will have over a week to do *my* prep for the sale (moving stuff into a pod, packing boxes, securing anything that isn’t for sale, taking pictures) before the folks come to do prepping and staging.

Plus a couple days after staging but before the sale to go through boxes stashed in the pod I hadn’t sorted through yet.

And a little over a week after the sale; hopefully enough stuff will be gone that I will be able to get the final cleanup done in time.

I actually have plane tickets now, so pictures should start appearing after February 21st.

That's great news. Will they be advertising it and if so where?
I hope I can find the sale advertised somewhere online so I know where it is.

If not, maybe you can direct message me here with the address of the home so I know if I am within driving distance and perhaps come to the sale.

I hope that you can come. Let me know if there is anything in particular you look for to keep for yourself, ok?

Thanks I believe you picked wisely. I used the link but it does not show your sale yet, perhaps it will come up as we get closer.
Once I figure out where it is here on LI, I will know better if I can try to come.
Thanks much and all the best

I am glad you decided to take the suggestion about renting a POD storage. I think you will be glad you did. Being able to clear out boxes of stuff to be gone through later will make this overwhelming task seem much less so.

I wish you a very successful sale with glorious weather all weekend!!:happy:

We just finalized the date yesterday, and they don’t have any pictures yet, so it may be a bit before it’s listed.
