551E62E8-57B4-4E06-AC1B-FA0328195EC8.jpeg Hi, everyone, I am new here! I’m trying to help my grandparents go through some of their things and sell some stuff.

I know nothing about antiques, and I don’t even know where to begin to find the information I need to do justice to their things when we sell them.
I’m hoping some of you may be able to help me, since I couldn’t scrape together much info from normal internet searching.

From what I found in my searching, this looks like it could possibly be a 1920s or 1930s hospital bassinet. It was originally a blue color, which can be seen under the top layer where it is chipped.

do you have any advice for me on how to price something like this?

Here are a couple references I found from my search. D8902187-8080-4976-9FBF-17286BDA7085.png 38534A91-A2E6-45D1-9C4F-1AF2CD8E7E6B.png

Thats an interesting thought. I cant imagine the helicopter parents of the last couple of generations actually using this,so Id venture to say maybe a doll collector ? Id ask $200 and see what the reaction is. Depending on your area of course.

FWIW I don’t think used cribs can be sold as baby cribs. Dolls crib is usually the venue.

Yes, I am aware of that! I know there are pretty specific rules these days for cribs. This is just a really cool looking piece of decor! I’m interested to learn more about the neat things I’m finding at my grandma’s house.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

From your images, the ones in the hospitals seem to have several inches higher sides..........more so in the second image down....JMHO!

I agree, they’re not exactly the same. I just can’t seem to scrape together any more information on what it would be! I am assuming it is a hospital bassinet, but maybe from a different time period.

I would also think that originally it would have been for a hospital or maybe a state orphanage or something. It stands too high for it to have been for kids to play with. It also looks very solidly constructed and has castors. So it was purposely build for use. But yes now just a decor piece for a collector or for a doll display. Is there any information on the castors themselves that could help you date it?

From the photo, it would appear that that is why your grandparents bought it.....for their dolls.

Not many doll collectors these days...............
