No one picked 5 yet, so I'm going to pick it.

Since I buy for resale, if this was online for $45 and I had no ability to see marks, handle or learn of any damage, I'd pass. I haven't seen similar so have nothing to compare it with.

 

Great answers everyone! Remember there's absolutely no such thing as a wrong answer on here so long as we all learn from each other. I appreciate all your responses. Lost my long answer. Thought this was somewhat Italian Baroque in style. Found others that were confirmed Italian, but they had different bases. Found one that said it was Italy/915 silver, which would match the eye test to me. The pic above makes it look like there are visible seams at the tops of the fish, that did kind of bother me. But still would get them. Putting myself out there!

 

Image searches kept pulling up identical items in silver from Spain. That make this a good gamble, even for this silver ignorant guy.

 

Those are really great observations Happy!, and I completely share your concern of the seams...it was my top concern when I made the purchase actually. I'll let some more folks share their thoughts and I'll go in more detail on the seams and confirmation of this piece but until I had these in my hands there was still a certain level of concern that I guessed correctly.

 

I thought Spain because I found another pair online that I thought looked very similar.

Big ole 1 here. Adding that I would very likely buy them just because I really like them and they look very re-sellable if it turns out I don't want them after all. AND, $45 seems like a reasonable almost bargain price.

To be honest, I just liked them. That usually means I can’t afford them. I did a ton of research and learned a lot, which was cool!

Will be curious to see the marks and not sure if you meant they are from Italy or Spain. Lovely pieces, I would not want to give them up. Congrats.

 

What has nearly driven me bonkers are the hallmarks. Is it one, the other, or both?!?!?

The top hallmark is Spain for sure, and the urn is I’m pretty sure the makers mark, but what is the story with the other marks?!? Pretty please with sugar on top ? <makes puppy eyes>

 

Note that countries do periodically change their markings plus there are cahnges to the international markings.

They certainly do, and thank you for sharing your knowledge - almost everything I know about silver marks has been learned in the last day or so

However, the marks in the second example aren’t modern Spanish marks, and (despite spending an embarrassing amount of time scrolling through the marks of other countries) I haven’t found their match, and it’s becoming an obsession and obstacle to accomplishing anything else

 

They aren't Italian, if that's your question.
