Both are very large and extremely heavy. They have some identifiers on them, but I can’t find anything using them.

We found them passing through a small town in tn where some people were in a lot with a big shipping container filled with many different things. They said they went to estate sales which is where most of their items came from. They had no idea what they were and we didn’t even unroll them until we got home.

I’ve had them about a year now. Paid $50 for the pair. Any help appreciated. First 3 photos are the first rug. The next photos are the 2nd. They both look like they’ve been stored awhile and looks like they need to be cleaned. Sorry for the dog hair in the pictures. The struggle is real!

Let me know if I need to take additional photos. Thank you!

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

MY suggestion would be, if near a city, and if the rugs are that heavy to deal with, expose as much as you can of each one, take really GOOD pictures of the back and front, INCLUDING ANY LABELS....as it looks like that's identifying them, have good measurements, then find a dealer who deals in Oriental Rugs! They should be able to help you! UNLESS of course, you get all the help you need Right Here!! BTW, it looks like that measurement is for the second rug??? What is the size of the first rug?? And best of luck!!:):) Wait for others to chime in!!

Remember 1979 when all heck broke loose and quite a few Americans were taken hostage in Iran? That's when Iran became an Islamic Republic - and the earliest date for this rug to be made. I believe probably later though because the US placed an embargo on Iranian goods at that time - no commercial activity with them was allowed for several years.

I took some more pictures, but without moving the bed and table, I won’t be able to get much more. The size of the one in the dining room is
83” wide 114 1/2” long. Thanks for the response!

Yes, that is a very good point. That will give some clue to the age. Does it look authentic? I have heard that top quality Persian rugs use stable dyes that won’t bleed. The rug in the bedroom that only has the tag panel kirman with the sku etc, we used the wet towel method and no dies bled into the towel. We haven’t tried it in the dining room yet, but it has tassels that looks as if some of the red die has bled into it.

I can't answer your question about the bleeding color, but will suggest that the tag with sku on the second rug is potentially much newer than the first.

  9. That’s what I was thinking too. Wouldn’t think an old rug would still have a sticker on it.
