Hello wonderful People of best forum on planet Earth and two other universes!
Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Friday.
I purchased this “tablecloth” recently, it was out of my budget but I fall in love, have to have it moment. I think it’s a tablecloth. It is kind of tapestry fabric, very heavy, good quality. Dimensions:60”x51”. It seems two sided. Couple of questions please: is it a tablecloth, what is the name of this fabric?

If the fringe is on all sides it's probably a tablecloth. Looks like a jacquard fabric.

Thanks. This is why I was not sure if it’s a tablecloth or not. The fringes are only on top and the bottom. Could it be a rug?

I think daybed spreads have fringe or ruffles on 2 long sides. Could that be it?

Good point. You are probably right. Who would walk on this, it would be a crime. The only issue is that it’s little small for the bed. But it’s so pretty that it doesn’t have to cover entire adult bed. Maybe girl bed?

I could be way off base here, but it reminds me of something I purchased several years ago, kind of like this. I bought it at auction and they called it an Italian Wedding Blanket / Tablecloth. I've since sold it (can't remember how much it brought). I searched on ebay and found some. Look toward bottom of this page in this link.

It crosses my mind that it "could" possibly be a carriage blanket. In as much as you said that it was "heavy", of course... is that the weight of the blanket itself or the fabric? Most carriage blankets seem to have wool content...does this one? The pattern isn't what I associate with a carriage blanket; but... still I can picture that a wealthy woman with her own carriage might use something like this in spring or fall before a hide or reallllly heavy one might be needed. Just thinking out loud...

The blanket consists of two segments joint together, front with the flowers and plain back. This is what makes it heavy. The fabric is thick, I think it’s jacquard, tapestry kind of fabric. I would say the fabric is mix of wool, cotton and some silk, or at least that’s how it feels when you touch it. Thanks guy!

With fringe on the top and bottom edges, instead of the side edges, I'm not convinced it would be for use on a bed.
The color/styling of the flowers looks quite 1990s to me. It's machine woven and may have a rayon component for the bit of sheen.
Could just be meant as a decorative wall hanging or throw?

Thanks. I’ll try hanging it on the wall, need to find the rod and the clips. I have one somewhere…I think.
