    Hello,

What can you tell me about this necklace? Thinking some beads are carnelian maybe? Also do those pearls have a special name? Finally what about the tiny coral colored smallest beads? They have a bit of a different look to them, would they be coral by any chance? They don't have the shine of glass and definitely not plastic.

Just needing some keywords here. Former owner had $, I'm thinking this was artisan made but may have been a little nicer. Thanks for taking a look!

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

That's bright and pretty....the only part I think I might now recognize is the baroque pearls??? Still learning on them.....

It is lovely, Lucille, a very nice design.:)
Those metal end tubes on either side of the clasp are a feature of Indian necklaces, so I think this could be modern Indian made. Since it is relatively recent, I am not 100% sure though.
There is a possibility it is modern Afghan, with those silvertone beads, stone tube beads, and S-clasp. Afghanistan has been making more delicate stone necklaces than is their tradition lately. Beautiful, and a great hit on the Western market.
Some people would call it banded carnelian, others agate. Basically the same stone, chalcedony, which goes under different names depending on the colour.
Some kind of pressed jasper maybe? Jasper 'block heishi'?

Some bloke in an Indian or Afghan shed did a nice job. The agate/carnelian is just - one or the other or both. It's the sort of thing I buy at estate sales if it's going cheap and use as a gift. (so I don't have to try and sell it)

Those pearls are lovely. Are the rectangular pieces glass or stone? Vibrant colours :)

If you know anyone who is into baroque pearls, they are very likely to want this. Guess how I know? :)

What I don’t know is if they’re freshwater or sea pearls. If forced to guess, I’d say freshwater, but only because they’re usually cheaper, and therefore are more likely to be found with hardware that isn’t gold or silver.

Also, IMNSHO, “artisan made” isn’t an antonym of “nicer”. Look at the people who like it too. Sure, some buyers put pedigree before beauty, but not all of us!

The tubular beads might be pipestone.

Pipestone isn't that bright a red. I think the red ones are some sort of composite material.
