    Hi,

    Found this thrifting. It's about 7" x 4."

It will probably end up on a wall in my man cave, but I'm still wondering if Elizabeth W. Scheel's work has come to market anywhere. I didn't find her during my quick online search.

Also curious what y'all think of the quality and if you can tell the medium. Acrylic paint?

    Thanks!

The way she incorporates imperfections in the wood into her design...

Elisabeth W. Scheel was an "incognito" of Walter Scheel, President of Germany from 1974 to 1979.
whenever he had to fly to the US to get briefed he had to use an alias because he would not have been welcome as former party member of the hmhmhm...
furthermore he was a hidden crossdresser and well known as Lizzy, The German Queen when performing in the Village.
some people told him "Walter, du hast einen Vogel" (Walter you have a bird), whereupon he replied " no, a whole aviary". a real cheerful guy he was !

Fid are you suggesting this was painted by Walter Scheel? Did he paint such things?

Scheel is a well known name where I live so I actually had been looking to see if it was someone local here in the US. Didn't find it yet.

I'd think "romance at short notice" (to quote Saki) is Fid's specialty.

:) saturday morning. was boring. I love Saki and read most all of him; must have to look for his complete works Penguin edition in the vaults.
everyone wants long legs like all these young Russian models - so I mean well and help you all.;)

for 14.99 $, what a shame for such a lovely item ! so make up a story and ask 100 and accept offers if listing at all:).

P.S. "Scheel anschauen" means looking at someone enviously but is very oldfashioned.

When William Came. without this - no Robert Harris and many others that came much later.
a hidden but harsh critique of the whole Victorian system; sometimes I thought him quite similar to Oscar Wilde.
unimaginable today how mothers sent their sons to the armies in the colonies when they didn't behave. to die for what ?
another one that was also on the same line was certainly Evelyn Waugh.
