Mickey Mouse picture

    I found the attached picture sorting through my parents things and the back says it was my father's when he was a child.

    It seems to be a really heavy carboard and Mickey is the same material and is a cutout attached to the background. Mickey's pants are flocked.

    Any guidance is appreciated as cannot find anything online

    According to Disney.fandom.com, the company became Walt Disney Productions in 1938, and Mickey's shoes went from yellow to brown in 1940.
    So that would give this a date between 1938 and 1940.

    thanks... dad was born in 1928 so was really surprised as would think it would be an earlier version of Mickey

    This clip from a Wikipedia article about Mickey Mouse indicates that Mickey was redesigned in the late 1930s to add whites to his eyes, and some other things. Previously his eyes were all black with no white part. It says his tail disappeared some time in the 1940s. He has a tail in your picture, so from this info it appears that late 1930s or very early 1940s would be a good guess. Since your father was born in 1928 I would guess late 1930s.
