I seen an article that said you can tell if its plated if you look on weak points of the pen you should see brass but I dont see any on this pen. What do you guys think?

Hi! I’m afraid that isn’t a fountain pen. It’s a ballpoint. Cross ballpoint pens are made with gold bodies, and this could be one of those, but I would need a bigger, better picture to be sure, because gold Cross pens are marked as such, so you should be able to find the mark.

I think this might be a Townsend, and plated, but I can’t be sure.

And welcome! On the upside, they tend to be fairly reliable pens, and the refills are still available in case it doesn’t currently write.

Ok I didnt find any hallmarks, but here are some more pictures of the pen. If it was plated would they even plate the inside part of the pen? Screenshot_20220202-182812_TextNow-ccfopt.jpg Screenshot_20220202-182837_TextNow-ccfopt.jpg

I'm so sorry this was ment for another post I added on finding a gold vintage Cross ballpoint pen.

I couldn't find a hallmark but if it was plated would they plate the inside part of the cap and tube as well?

Mmmm, what would your reaction be if someone wrote that they had “sent out a twitter on the internet”? Or said they couldn’t send a picture from their phone? That they had discovered this new thing called Facebook? How about that lady who used an iPad as a cutting board? Would it take you a moment to wrap your head around that? I confess it would take some effort for me not to laugh a little. How about you? Would you, perhaps, assume that person was old enough that they might be in the habit of writing things on paper? And still have a land line?

You just got called young. If that’s unacceptable to you, you might want to rethink looking for advice about pens :)

I think new folks can feel offended or uncomfortable by responses when no offense is intended. They are new and don't know our quirks, and may feel a bit awkward in general as newbies here.
Welcome Ayojknow. You'll find lots of joking and fun along with the great information available from the many experts and not-quite-experts here.

yes, that's possible....so I still say that new members should first post on the intro forum where they can say who they are , and be soundly welcomed into our midst...
    :):):):):)
one can get a feel for how we post, even from that !;)

but what about the newbies that show up here.....with this type of attitude.....

.."I’m super grateful for all the things I have learned lurking here and will try to post pictures that folks might enjoy."

those newbies seem to fit in just fine.....

    right ..2it !!!!

Did I reply in a negative way? Was I rude or offensive to the way I replied to that persons unnecessary comment? If so I apologize I didnt mean to offend that person who made an unnecessary comment to what I came here for in the first place, and that was help and to be more knowledgeable, and I'll ask about anything I dont have knowledge about even if it is about " fountain pen ". Gives you generation categorizes something to do.
