OLD AFRICAN? DRUM?

Found this at a local thrift store today! I think it's real (as opposed to made for tourists) - it's way to big to carry on a plane if bought on a whim!

Can anyone tell me where it's from?
What the writing on it says?
How old it is?

My attempt with google translate came out "the movie is bigger" -- I'm going to take a wild guess that that is incorrect.

Yours might be a copy. Looking at the ones in the link and yours there are a little bit of difference and lack of detail. I would say a copy made to look old.
