    Dear antiquers,
i bought some antique jewelry and this is one of them.
I think this is a richly decorated antique buckle

openwork pieces are bound together and these are again decorated with golden flowers (daisy?) and beautiful woman silhouettes. these pices appear to be attached to the bottom with a metal pin.

the woman figures looks to mine unedicated eye as classic female figures with beautiful cruly hair or headdress and beautiful costume. they appear to be wearing earrings and pearl necklaces with a teardrop-shaped pendant.

Do you have any idea from which period it comes and in which country it may have been made?
were these type of antique jewelry always marked?

I've looked a bit but haven't been able to find a mark yet. center piece is made of iron I think because this piece is magnetic. but what material would the rest be made of?

And are they figures famous characters?

dimensions bucklebelt: 12.5 cm long and 4.5 cm wide weighs around 42gr

Sash buckle looks like. Late Victorian for age, i.e. 1880-1900 is my guess. Country... who knows. Someone else might.

    Ty for your help.

Is this the name of the rectangle shape including the used decoration type?

Rococo lady with pouf hairstyle. Here is Marie Antoinette wearing something similar. What is the size? Size can help determine age.

It is a beauty, Hi. I'm with evelyb, late 19th century. Probably late German Historic Revival (Historismus). It looks base metal.

Both the opulent historic style which leans to a heavier look, and the type of die cast openwork metal with separately made and assembled elements look German to me.

It is an impressive piece, and carefully designed for a good effect.
In our family we always say of typical German styles (in matching German): "Das soll Eindruck machen!", (that should impress!).:playful:
That goes for large and opulent, like your beautiful buckle, but also for things like heavy German furniture or solid-looking architecture.

Regency era. That's a little early for your buckle if it's indeed late Victorian.

on 1827 - 1833 paintings you see these types of belts
    2012FY7095_2500-scaled.jpg
    images.jpeg.jpg 1830-1839.jpeg.jpg

and 1880-1900 paintings you see there is no belt or the shapes are different.

is there a chance that it could be from 1827-1850?
