I'm trying to find out any information about these two figures. My mother probably got them from the art museum for which she worked in the 1960's. The museum often received items to be sold on consignment or items that were donated. There is no writing on them and they appear to have had holes drilled in them to be mounted on the wooden platform. Does anyone know where they might be from or, if they're replicas, what cultural tradition they represent?

They've been around my whole life and I don't know what they are or why my mom kept them!

What type of museum was it?

An art museum in Dayton, Ohio. She bought or was gifted other items when she worked there, mostly mid-century art.

If the Dayton Art Institute, then no reason they might be genuine articles that were donated or deaccessioned.

"The museum is divided into three main wings: the Berry Wing of European Art, the Dicke Wing of American Art and the Patterson-Kettering Wing of Asian Art. The Dayton Art Institute also features galleries devoted to African Art, Ancient Art, Oceanic Art, Art of the Ancient Americas, Native American Art, Photography and Glass, as well as Outdoor Sculpture."

Yes, that’s the place. My mom loved working there and spoke about it often.

Unusual figurines, I wouldn't know where to place them, culture-wise.
I think these are items you should take to a specialised museum. From the photos they look like they could have real age, but they need to be handled in person by someone knowledgeable.
