ID This Cotton Material?

    This was in a family member’s house…major sewing enthusiasts so they brought back fabric from everywhere they went. I do know they went to Central/South America in the 70’s and I’m guessing it came back with them but I’m not sure. I like the pattern and subtle shading, may want to turn it into something but I’d like to know I’m working with.
    Any help would be appreciated! Thank You Folks!

    Yes it's cotton fabric, so is the embroidery.

    Not sure what constitutes a skirt length but it’s approx 34”x 104”.

    Thank You for the info…Mexico makes sense!

    edit: I didn’t see the add link at first. At 34” I don’t think there’s enough to wrap around and make a skirt like the one shown…but I’m not too experienced in sewing and definitely not in making clothes.

    Beautiful and quite possibly from Mitla which is the cotton weaving area just outside Oaxaca. I own a similar one I recently bought there.
