This is a folk art painting I found a while ago; it's been sitting in a stack of paintings & was unearthed yesterday when a couple came looking for art for their new apt.
When I tried google image search I found an exact copy of it on 1st Dibs website except that one doesn't have a signature?
(Unknown - Vintage Parisian Folk Art "Moulin Rouge Street Scene" Original Painting 20th C. For Sale at 1stDibs)

Any thoughts on what I have/1st dibs seller has?
PS - I posted about this painting before & I apologize - I was thinking of listing it after it appeared yesterday but I'm just curious about there being another unsigned one - this isn't a paint by numbers type thing where there may be more paintings of it, is it?!

PS It's on very course canvas - does that help tell where it's from?

Thank you for any help - and for your patience!

There are subtle differences between the two paintings. You can compare the closeups of the lower left corner of yours and the one on 1stDibs. The one on 1stDibs has more details done in white - blossoms on the tree, and decorative details on the carriage door and wheels. So they are not exact copies. I suspect they are Chinese factory paintings, some of which are signed with generic western names.

Seems to be a factory painting riffing on Michel Delacroix

Has yours lost most of the sky colour or is it photo flash?

Agree re Delacroix. And think decorative.

I think it is a silkscreen print.

I can feel the ridges & bumps of the paint brush's strokes - especially in the orange dots on carriage wheel & windmill & elsewhere

More likely to be a print because it’s quite difficult to get two paintings if as you say ‘exactly the same’ except for the signature. The inks used on a silkscreen print can be quite thick and texture can be added.

Would they put a print on such a course canvas?

As I noted in my earlier post, the two versions that journey has found are not exactly the same - there are differences in at least the one area where we can make a detailed comparison from the photos. It is possible to make duplicate paintings by using a projector to replicate the same image. In a factory art situation, individual painters might add their own flourishes, but the basic image would be the same.

If there are differences than isn't it more likely to be a painting like I think it is?

You are in the best position to determine the medium. It is not always easy to determine from photographs. I'm just suggesting that it is not impossible for it to be a painting.
