it's a mechanical watch? I think you would have to get it serviced for it to work again- I looked into servicing a vintage mechanical watch of mine but didn't end up doing it because it's very expensive! (At least at the places I looked into) so might not be worth doing for a cracked watch!

    JMHO.
eventual value is in the material. should be tested for gold.
those art deco watches are nigh to impossible to sell.

There's a very good chance it could be made to run & even keep time well. My jewellers has done a brilliant job at this for me a number of times, including with one that had been declared no longer reparable decades ago. Sometimes all old watches really need is to be cleaned & regulated.

The fractured crystal may be more of a problem than the watch mechanism. I don't know how hard/easy it is to get replacements. At least the face has not oxidized & discolored.

If I have bought the watch cheaply, which is always the case with me, I have found what my jeweller charges to get one going again is not exorbitant. But I'm wanting the watch for my own use, not for resale, which makes a big difference to the calculation.

Yours seems to carry the same info except I don't see Made in USA, so wondering whether that means it is earlier.

Are there any marks on the bracelet?

I'm among the few crackpots who love them I guess. And I love mechanical because they don't lead to the need for disposing of all those little batteries. This thread made me pull out one I had restored, a little rectangular, deco style ladies watch, Gruen, to see how it's doing. At the moment running & keeping perfect time. Will see how it does over the day. I have too many watches or too few wrists.

Yeah I actually found another watch face that is selling for parts on eBay so I may have to snag that one. But it would be cool to get it running. It’s 18k gold but I rather not scrap it. I only paid $10 for it so figured it may be worth a try to get it up and moving

Yeah it looks to be hand scratched on there by someone. Even with the loupe though it was hard to see. It’s either 49185 or 49155

When I bring a watch to my jeweller for repair, they have me leave it with them, someone has a look at it & they get back to me with an estimate of what it will cost & the option to proceed or not. If you can supply a replacement crystal, that should help bring down the cost significantly.

I have a watch, not gold through, which may be identical to yours with a good crystal if you want it.
