    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and look forward to browsing through the site. I do have an initial question. I recently bought these 3 pieces at an auction in the U.S. and am wondering if they are empire or Chippendale, or something different altogether. Appreciate any and all feedback.

I would call them late Victorian or early Edwardian in general, with the popular fantasy motif of the North Wind face and the pawed feet. I can see where you might be thinking of Chippendale with the entwined back splat but this is way later. I am guessing mahogany and yup, American made. R J Horner did a lot of North Wind motifs but this doesn't look like one of theirs. I have heard the type referred to as "Horner school". You did check underneath for labels, yes?

I don't think I've ever seen a corner chair made later than WWI. I'd call the style Victorian Mishmash; it looks like a mash-up of a couple of different styles. The Victorians did that a lot.

Thanks for the info, I did look underneath and did not see any labeling.

Thanks for the info and I like the "Victorian Mismash" label!

I'd call it Empire Revival ca. 1900-1910, probably mahogany.

Thanks again, any idea of a value for the three?

As pretty as they are, I doubt value at auction would exceed $200 in most U.S. locations.
