Today’s acquisition from my local FB marketplace for only $10.
A bit worse for the wear but very sturdy and looks all original. Measures 19.5 inches tall, 19.5 inches wide, and 15.5 inches deep.
It’s apparently a good example of how you cannot date furniture by the furniture paper tag. The date on this paper tag is 1929 however the Hitchcock Chair Company was not reincarnated until 1946 and didn’t start production until 1948.
Editing to add/question: Info I'm finding state the "new" Hitchcock Chair Company didn't start stamping the Hitchcock name on items until 1952, and then "always" used backward N's and a copyright symbol in order to not be confused with the original Hitchcock production. No backward N's on mine, and no copyright symbol. ???

It also states thet they can have correctly written n's and the paper tag references different law acts but those may still have been in force in 1948 onwards. There is no reason to think it is not a genuien Hitchcok other than is it somehting they would actually make and or were the acts revised with later acts before 1948/1952, it is possible but once the act is made it will easily last 20 years or more.

EDIT: Some quick research indicates that there were Hitchcock ladies desks/vanities sold with small seat benches rather than chairs.

 

Vanities often came with stools instead of chairs. And seconded on the cat bed; just ask the cat.

 

Found this "Cute Woven Small Hanging Basket w/ Light Blue Band $5"... AKA a Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka) Native basket with a depiction of whalers in a dug-out canoe.

Is it maybe intended to be a bird feeder?

 

A few new items for my hoard. Don't usually get pieces of furniture but the plant stand caught my eye. Anybody have any idea of how old it is?

The 2nd picture is of an older oil/automotive fluid jar from an auto repair shop or gas station - my father, a longtime auto mechanic, said that when he started working in the industry 40 years ago sometimes you would sometimes find old jars like this discarded in dusty corners of auto garages or in junk heaps.

Finally got the below pieces of Roseville Pottery Zephyr Lilly for a real bargain. Fairly common pieces but I have a soft spot for art pottery when selling for reasonable prices.

agree with a very early 20th century date for the stand. Think the jar is wrong for an oil jar. More typically look like this......(shown with a quart canning jar for comparison)

As indicated, likely for some other automotive fluid or might have been a make-do; using a gas can spout on a jar that fits.

 

Yes, that Nuu-chah-nulth item is usually described as being for matches.

 

Found this Empoli bottle for $5.99+. It’s very tall at 27”, cased latticino lavender. I didn’t know how well these bottles were selling until I got it home and looked at ebay. I have several in my hoard that aren’t as cool but still lots more desirable than I imagined.

 

I wouldn't even want to think about shipping that thing.

Ha ha.. Certainly no great find,but this 30cm long ‘homemade’ bread knife has some rustic charm (well to me) It does have a cool brass handle. Don’t think it is even proper vintage but I like it..
