    Welcome society.
A few days ago he picked up an interesting find.
The discovery was made in Ukraine, Lviv region.
The first signal received at that place was a horseshoe-shaped fibula. The next signal was iron and despite the large amount of iron I dug it, it was the ax of the Kiev movement. After washing it, I checked the hole again and there was another signal under the ax, it turned out that this wonderful thing from Rauchtopaz or smoky quartz is decorated with bronze in gilding. Long discussions among colleagues did not yield results to determine what it was. but one man made me think that we should look for Scandinavians and Vikings. Here I have already found confirmation of my assumptions, because from that site I was told who you can consult the account of this thing. I was told it was a Visby lens photo_2022-01-05_09-38-58 (2).jpg photo_2022-01-06_08-24-55 (2).jpg photo_2022-01-05_09-38-58 (2).jpg photo_2022-01-06_08-24-55 (2).jpg

    Nice find.

You could contact the Gotland Museum in Visby, Sweden. Apparently they have several of these lenses, and should know something about them.

Thanks, @Figtree3, THAT sounds SO interesting!!!! NICE FIND, @Sergsievil !!! But I do have a question, or did I miss something.....wouldn't something written in the lens destroy it's use as a magnifier, or DUH, are you just showing something MAGNIFIED!!!! (which may be just what you are doing)!!!!:rolleyes:

as the lense was found in the same hole as the "fibula" which seems rather a torque perhaps exchanged with celtic merchants and given that Visby and nearby Parviken were both important trading places, it may be a grave of a merchant on his way to Kiew or further down to Constaninople.
