Plan B will give you more dollars to purchase the period pieces you love.

I'm not a furniture "guy" and now even I want to go! Anywhere a group of people that passionate about a subject are all in the same place has got to be pretty good party. Even if they're not partying.

    Exactly

Unfortunately, I don't think they allow civilians entry into most of the showrooms.

What if they have tax ID numbers?
Or is it a "club" type deal?

It's for people who are actually IN the furniture industry. People who buy million-dollar orders or sell those types of orders or who design for the major manufacturers, etc.
If flying in from Cali, Europe, or Asia for example you are not interested in messing around with Ma & Pa Kettle looking to get a deal on a single couch! :playful:
Pretty sure there is a large showroom area for the general public to attend but, that is not where the BIZ really happens.
Something like 180 buildings? It's a pretty massive affair, only happens twice a year.
Has never been to one so no personal experience, just hear from those that have. Kinda hated those "market week" thingys when doing construction jobs in the area, had to drive 40 miles out of my way and pay 3 times the normal hotel rate even though a regular client.

    Exactly!
Furniture is big business, "market week" is for those in the industry primarily.

Here's a question not many can answer. Name the city that was the 'furniture capital' in the 50's.

Used to attend the High Point market twice a year when in the furniture business. You don't have to be a big wheel in the business but do need proper credentials. As the owner of a small retail furniture company, credentials were not hard for me to get. Most vendors do have a minimum purchase order. For furniture companies, it usually was in the thousands. For the big companies, you need to make a comittment to represent their line and be vetted to do so. For accessories, the minimum purchase order might be as low as a few hundred dollars. It was always a great experience and I miss attending.

Next question: Which U.S. town was the leader in metal furniture manufacturing in the early twentieth century?
