    All Ptolemeaians kept their Macedonian cultural identity, but Cleopatra did her best to schmooze the Egyptian people. She was the first one who actually took the trouble to learn Egyptian, her predecessors only spoke Koine Greek.
    Not a classic beauty, but I've seen worse. Of course portraits were often more flattering than the actual person:

    There is also a Roman(?) fresco of her with the same profile. I'll see if I can find it.

    It's thought that nearly all representations of Cleopatra are idealized. There are coins on which she & Antony look very much alike; her image was mutable. Her real appeal to men may have been all the languages she spoke & her ability to tell a bawdy joke with the best of them. She could be one of the guys. No doubt she could also be a sexpot when it served her purposes. Her accomplishments & the length of time she stayed in power despite many forces working against her are impressive.
