I'm not sure how old they are but they were passed on to my mother over 30 years ago. They were her mothers and I'm not sure how long she had had them, she was 92 when she passed away 30 years ago. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Karen

People will want photographs of the bottoms. Are there any marks?

Yes it does appear to be that mark and very similar to the piece in the link.

GDR stands for German Democratic Republic (East Germany), so I'd imagine it was made between 1949 and 1990.

I've just realised the markings we've been looking at are the man and woman on the bench the bottom image I've just attached is the piano and violin one.
