Spent a year living in NO in the French Quarter, a lovely place.:)
Unless you are driving to pick up the furniture yourself, FORGET ABOUT IT!
For the past 10-15 years shipping furniture via Uship.com has been GREAT! relatively cheap & fast, those days are GONE!
In march-april 2020 had a blanket chest shipped for $250. door to door
In march-april 2021 had a cabinet shipped for......... $750. door to door
Shipping rates are THREE TIMES & UP what they were just a year ago and, instead of a week or 2 delivery time, it's now a month or 2.
Shipping most things have changed dramatically in the last year, it's 3 TIMES the money and double to 3 TIMES the delivery time.
If collectors like myself are balking at shipping rates, flippers have NO CHANCE.

I solicited quotes on Uship last week to ship six dining chairs from Austin to Boston and only got two quotes - $450 and $500. Over the past few years I've shipped other furniture to California and Florida and those were in the $400-$600 range as well. There is definitely a decrease in the number of shippers. Previously I'd get 5 or more bids on a shipment but now it's 1-2.

Yep, I didn't get ANY legit bids earlier this year from Uship, SHOCKED me a little as I had depended on them for so long. (90% or more of my shipping issues are within 100 miles of I-95, the major interstate on the eastern seaboard)
Going forward with shipping furniture this is going to put a SERIOUS crimp in auction sales that are not local to the buyer I predict.
The good old days are gone and shipping furniture is now a MAJOR cost in the sales price of any acquisition.
    Times Change.:cigar:

Sounds frustrating! I listed this as more of a PSA for anyone living in the NOLA area that might want to check it out. I'm such "small time" I would never want to seriously consider having anything large shipped any distance at all.....on a different vein, did anyone see that reality TV show "shipping wars"....it followed several people that bid on shipments via Uship and followed their progress, looked at profits made, etc....I'm sure mostly fabricated but fun to watch....

I-95 is kinda a BIG DEAL in the USA, serves over 110 million people & comprises over 40% of GDP. If you can't get a reasonable quote to ship along this route, you've got some serious issues.
