Cherry Red Cameo

Hi again,
I have little time today to share one more Cameo.
I think this is plastic, moulded, not sure what type of plastic, it’s matt, the light does not really travels through except for the thinner sides. I think it may be a Flora girl or one of the Bacchante girls.
I would like to ask your opinion on material, age and the depiction.
I have few more to share, keeping the best till last .

Hi, Simona. Yes, she would generally be regarded as Flora, more a name for the type than an identification. You are correct that she is a molded piece in some sort of artificial material. I don't know chemically what she is, but does not look like either Bakelite or Celluloid, the most collected plastics.

Age is difficult to determine, probably after WWII up to today. I can't quite make out how the pin mechanism is assembled. When it is closed, is the sharp tip of the pin stem covered? If so, think this feature puts it to the earlier end of the range.

Knowing the exact age or the precise nature of the polymer is not going to add much, if anything, to the value. You have to love her for herself.

 

@Simona Buhus A little more investment advice. It's fine to buy items like this if they appeal to you and are very inexpensive. Do not buy them with investment value in mind. This one looks like it will deteriorate rather than appreciate.
