    Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

    @Ghopper1924, @James Conrad, thoughts??

    Sure LOOKS nice, and the little wheels on it look old, but holding my cards tight at the moment.....I've never seen an old one that nice, BUT that's NOT to say it's NOT old either.....

    Looks old enough to me! Those bitty wooden wheels have probably been reproduced, but I don't think they put them on later reproduction furniture.

    I agree, in fact this looks like it probably was made “here”, I.e. England. That said, time could vary a bit, since once again the most important pics for determining actual age are not included (underneath).

    I will take some candid photos including underneath and of the castors once I pick it up. Thanks.

    Renaissance/Aesthetic walnut game table ca. 1870-85. Stunning burl/burr. I would say that it's overwhelmingly likely that it was made in England. The casters/wheels are original, although Evelyb30 is right, if this were to be a reproduction it wouldn't have them. Beautiful!!

    The circled area on "B" shows the lighter band continuing on the edge. This leads me to think that the two halves of the tabletop are each solid boards of natural wood, with "A (closed)" and "C" being veneers.

    Thanks those were the parts I was thinking were veneers. Interesting that there is no evidence of felt being on the inside.

    That would hide the beauty of the wood. ;)

    Separate baize cloth.

    Does look like one of ours, and the quality is lovely.

    Well its now on the North Shore of Sydney. By 'ours' you mean made in the UK?

    I do indeed mean UK. Which actually makes sense: we exported a great deal to your neck of the woods, and emigrants took treasured items.

    That's dead right and it's English. Might be slightly earlier than I thought, 1860s.
