This elegant ring was part of my husband's aunt's estate. Just noticed the 14K mark in the photo! :) IMG_2915 (2).JPG
IMG_2912 (2).JPG The gizmo on the back was originally "adjustable" as she had arthritis in her knuckles and so it would go over her knuckle and then tighten up when on. That broke at some point and I had it permanently made smaller.

The adornment is a beautiful soft pale peachy pink and measures approx 3/4" x 1/2". It is more matte in finish than glossy. It is slightly opaque. The dark mark on the back is apparently dirt - I was able to remove it.

I've always thought it was shell; rather than stone. But what kind? Certainly not abalone; I don't think it is a pearl (never heard of a cut pearl anyway)... she was a Florida gal who loved to travel... I've no idea where she acquired it.

    Any help would be appreciated...
    PS... I am keeping it! :) IMG_2913.JPG IMG_2911 b.JPG

It is a beauty, Leslie. Looks like pink coral to me.

What I'd call angel skin coral. But I bow to others more knowledgable.

Angel skin is usually paler and it often has white bits in it. This is closer to pink coral, which is a variety of red coral (would you believe!).

@Aznathalie - I'm so excited! I never even noticed that manufacturer's cartouche! How exciting! That rather fits! Auntie and Uncle had good taste - and some disposable income around then; they had no children... so my hubby and his siblings were like their kids. I'm so tickled to know more about it! Thank you!

Oh, many times thank you for all your replies!... it seems fairly certain that it is pale pink coral. @Any Jewelry - I was able to locate one small white bit in it. I'm delighted that it is coral. Auntie was such a sunny, happy person - she just glowed with sunshine and this seems to really have fit her personality. I'm so happy to have been the recipient!

    Thanks again!
    Leslie
