White lightning is probably impervious to little old lead.

If it was poorly made, it likely had more than enough lead on it's own. This that I have, though, wasn't made "to sell", it was made to appreciate. I'm not worried about it containing lead, or taking on lead from the decanter. If I drank it all, I don't think there would be enough to hurt.

Lead was a big problem with moonshiners of old when they used old radiators as part of the still it would leech lead ( doesn't take much ) into the spirits and they would end up killing or severely injuring the clientele which wasn't good for business. :cigar::cigar::cigar:

    Well, just in case:

A common folk test for the quality of moonshine was to pour a small quantity of it into a spoon and set it on fire. The theory was that a safe distillate burns with a blue flame, but a tainted distillate burns with a yellow flame. Practitioners of this simple test also held that if a radiator coil had been used as a condenser, then there would be lead in the distillate, which would give a reddish flame. This led to the mnemonic, "Lead burns red and makes you dead." or "Red means dead."

Once upon a time, a loaf of white bread contained enough iodine that it could be used to filter cheap likker to remove the lead. A chemist could probably tell you why (or if) it worked.
