Help with Signature on Painting

I purchased this painting at auction and cannot, for the life of me, decipher the artist's name. First name looks like Edith and the last name starts with an H and ends with an A...or N? Help! Doesn't look like it has too much age to it...and is the artist what you would consider a Sunday Painter? It's 27.5" x 21.5". Thank you for any advice/deciphering.

 

Maybe something like Edith Houser?

Ha! Definitely doesn't make much sense does it? Regular old spear fishing? And what is that puffy brownish round thing?

 

Hmmm...that's definitely a possibility. I was seeing fabric rolled and folded. I guess that explains why I'm not an art historian.

 

I found this listing for seven small paintings said to be by Edith Howard. There is one that is hard to see but seem so say just Edith Howard. This one includes Lucile but it looks a lot like your signature to my eye. (which isn't very arty)

Thank you so much! I've been searching off and on all evening when I get a free minute (family obligations) for her signature. Im so glad you found this! This is fantastic! Looking at her style and use of color, I'm completely convinced it's her. Even with the signature reading Lucile, the Howard is always underlined (sometimes more prominently than others). Your help is much appreciated!

 

I'm going to be the dissenting voice. To my eye, the signature isn't a match nor is the technique.

Yes, I ran across their site and I'm definitely going to contact them. I'm for sure making an uneducated (in art) guess so you definitely know better than me/what to look for etc. Thank you for taking the time to look at it; it's much appreciated!

 

Artists were known to have differing signatures over time,but i too was thrown by most of her work signed Lucille. I do still think this is by her,everything else seems right.
