COULD this be a Degas monotone pastel?

sig3.jpg I purchased this painting 6 months ago but I just noticed the signature.
My last 2 pictures are of the signature, the red one was taken with a UV light. The first picture is of a known degas signature from 1879..
The painting is on CANVASBOARD and that made me think it was a fake ,but turns out they did have canvasboard in degas time. I also learned about his monotone pastel paintings. I was wandering if he ever did those on canvasboard?
And your opinion real or fake?
    Size is APPROXIMATELY 24 x 36 inches.

This is not a monotone painting.
It is not a high quality level of painting.

In fact, I don't think this painting is of pastel, but rather acrylics.
Have you taken it out of the frame yet? Is the surface chalky?

Sorry, except for the tilted perspective, it's nothing like the work of Degas. Not in subject, not in palette, not in technique, not in era.

The painting is not under glass.
    Here are pics under light.

It doesn't appear to be the work of a fully trained artist. Could/would you post a photograph of the back, including frame?

Yes that's paint, not pastels. Not done by a skilled artist.

Just a guess that it was a copy from somewhere.
I quite like the colours used in the OPs.

Yes, how did you find? I did a Google Images search and came up with nothing. The original illustration was done by Louis Macouillard, best known for his work with the Matson Line. c. 1950s according to the internet.

I will always remember the time I asked a seller if the painting was signed. He said he could/would sign it anything I wanted. This, I have never forgotten when looking at artwork for sale.

Always love a seller who provides that extra bit of customer service.
