At one or two dollars it's a buy. It may resell for up to ten maybe. On a good day.

AF, how big? Size matters with many things. It doesn’t look very well-finished, you can see what looks like thin excess metal that should have been removed at the foundry. But wth, for an inexpensive display item, nobody cares.

If it's small, maybe went with some kind of box/casket for papers, jewellery or for a locking desk drawer. It looks like barrel key.

The term "Skeleton Key" must have a different meaning in the US
That key is for a simple lock on a cabinet or closet

    A Skeleton Key is
(also known as a passkey ) is a type of master key in which the serrated edge has been filed down so that it can open numerous locks, most commonly the warded lock.

The term derives from the fact that the key has been reduced to its essential parts.

Very hard to things down when we’re given no clue as to size of an object. This one looks to be about a foot long, might hurt your back picking it up.

Americans seem to describe any form of lever lock barrel key as a skeleton key. Linguistic drift.

We don't normally use the term for the type of key posted. Probably incorrectly, but it's what what we tend to call a key like a master key for old locks on interior room & closet doors that use those long shafted keys that have protrusions more like vanes than teeth & came in a limited variety of configurations.

    More compactly said.

Is it heavy enough to be a paperweight? Think it's decor, no lock required.

Nothing to do with skeleton technic, which is by piercing and making a pattern through something using the function as a decorative way.
A simple key you can buy for 5 or 10$ new on deco furniture catalogs.
