    Hello all.

I’ve been posting here and there around these boards as I clean out my mother’s house after her passing…

Among the objects I’ve found is this cast iron dutch oven. No markings that I can identify and quite typical except for the pattern on the lid.

I am assuming mid-20th century and worth the metal it’s made of, but I wanted to confirm with an expert before sending it to recycling.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Looks clean. Assuming no cracks, i'd say it's worth $15-$30 on the low end.

The Dutch ovens I have/had look much older, being black from hanging on a swing arm in the fireplace from 'back when'!! @Kronos may be right on current value of yours....definitely unique pattern inside the lid....

The one on Invaluable has these marks.... a dash, then not sure if under that is a "Z" or a "2", then I believe an "8"....

And I'm about to do the OP'S that I just also saw, but they're very similar....

ACTUALLY, OP'S LID has different letters "S" and a "D" below that, AND far below the "D" is what looks like a small figure 8.....here 'tis....

Yes, it is stamped with an 8, I assume the size.

Under that is what looks to me like a 0, but maybe it was meant to be a D.

Those are the only intentional marks I see. Everything else is from wear.

    Thanks!

If you sell them online people have to pay shipping and they are heavy. So often you can sell them for more locally. I am not sure where you are but here in Missouri older dutch ovens still sell well. $30 dollars low end. please do not scrap it. It looks very smooth inside which is a sign of good quality. The drip spikes are for self basting and are also a sought after item. There are identification sites if you google them.
