Featured mystery pressed uranium glass mugs: Walther & Sohne?

Hi all. I have four mugs with the same figure. I thought it was Ben Franklin or one of the early US colonists when I found them. Not sure if they are of a country's king, King Jesus, St. Paul, St. Peter, another early pope, or someone else. They definitely look Christian-themed to me. I see either an ichthus pattern around the crown or a crown of thorns as part of the larger crown.

All that I have found so far was that they are (as I suspected) uranium glass and were an anomaly on another site a few years back:

I think you're reading too much into them.

 

These have been on a good Facebook glass page too. consensus was 30s and the feeling was they were meant to be playing card images.

Thanks again all, especially Tall Cakes for all of the links. If anyone who has Worthpoint feels inclined to clue me in on a ballpark range of what the sets sold for, that would be most helpful.

All things considered, I think I'll tag them "30s Walther & Sohne Art Deco Uranium Glass King Playing Card Face Mugs.

I gift or flip most glass pieces I come across, including uranium ones, but these are so neat and clouded in mystery I may just get a blacklight and a display case and enjoy them.

 

Unless your pics are deceptive, might want to actually use a black light on these before calling them 'uranium glass' (anyone looking for that would expect to see images with the fluorescence) - they don't appear to be the same color as those in your link, and while they may have uranium salts present, suspect the 'glow' might be less vivid. Personally, have used a UV light for decades, they are useful in so many ways for determining or at least giving clues in numerous areas concerning material, age, damage, etc. (and they're just kind of fun too)...
