I, too, don't see MCM. MCM means Mid-Century Modern and was a specific style of design popular during the mid-twentieth century. Do keep in mind that not everything from the mid-twentieth century was of that design. I remember my aunt/uncle's house was full of Danish Modern, while my own childhood home had stuff more like you're presenting. (I also remember a discussion between my parents, in the car on the way home after a visit to my aunt/uncle's house, about how they -my parents- just didn't "get" the Danish Modern fad... I remember my mother using the word bland... My mother tended more toward brutalist home decor.)
I also think the items you are showing here are later, perhaps 1970s.
I tend to think of MCM as smooth lines and sleek curves, mostly natural/nature color tones though with some pops of brightness, unfussy though distinctively stylish. (That's just my take, I'm no expert!)

It is lower-end, American MCM from 60's/70's . The octagonal table was part of a nesting set like this, with Formica tops. None of it is particularly valuable.

Some would call these "post modern", or loosely "late 20th century". The tables are not bad, especially the square one, and the pair of lamps with the right décor, maybe.
Interestingly enough (or maybe not), Mid Century Modern is known in some parts of the world (including my own backward neck of the woods) simply as "American" style, and a LOT of it has passed under my hammer. For me it also represents my parents' taste (or lack thereof). Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has called it "pasteurised design", and the aesthetic of "institutionalised institutions" and I have but to agree (although, US educated, I'd write that with a Z) .

Absolutely (it is Wegner's fault too, for selling to Knoll). When I was starting up I learned there were four corners of the earth. Besides the aforementioned American, All the Louises, and Directors, and Emperors are of course plainly "French" whereas anything heavy on cabriole legs is "Queen Anne" (she was of unknown origin, probably Spanish). "English" is a more refined thing left for Georgian in general and the three book guys in particular.

Gosh. Whatever happened to history education in Uruguay?
    They make great movies though.
Queen Anne was the daughter of the English king James II and Anne Hyde, who was also English.:)

Here's a quote from Charles Darwin on that point.
"The greater number of the inhabitants had an indistinct idea that England, London and North America were different names for the same place; but the better informed well knew that London and North America were separate countries close together, and that England was a large town in London!"

The lamps are kind of cool, I think I might see a foil label on the socket. What I'm seeing could be something else, but if it is a label and they are by a known maker will add value. Would be nice to check the shades for condition if you can before bidding.

Depends what you want to do with the lamps though. Would they be for resale? If Ebay, lamps are very very costly to ship, esp. with shades.

The rest of it didn't seem to interesting to me, but I can't see the tables too well in the photo. Agree that this lot is bit later than MCM.

    Delightful!:joyful:
Mind you, I have heard people in the US say that the Netherlands is a town in Switzerland. I don't know where they think Switzerland is.

Sorry for the digression. All I said above notwithstanding, in some settings, like a modern, all-glass-and-steel building, you've actually got nowhere to go but MCM. I once had an office in one such building and I still have a George Nelson desk and a set of DCMs (with roll-o-deck and desk set to match) in deep storage (meaning there is stuff on top of the stuff that is on top of it).

That group is definitely not Post Modern (which is a very specific movement that is admittedly hard to define-I know it when I see it LOL). PM did follow Modernism and usually has architectural detail and in many cases a crazy color palette. Think 80s Memphis Milano.
