I had made a post about some oil on canvas art pieces maybe a month ago and while most of them were reproductions,a few of them were actually originals

One of the originals I was actually quite fond of as were several others but no one could identify it as there was no signature to be found.

    I was inspecting that painting
just 30 minutes ago and looking closely at the frames and borders when I realized that there is a signature on the original frame in the bottom corner.

I'm not 100% certain that the signature is from the person who painted that but it would make sense.

I don't know if I'm reading these letters correctly but it appears to spell out "Jois or Lois and Hager or Hazer Jr." I could be way off as neither of those names brought up any search results and mean 5nothing to me so I've included pictures the best as I could.
    Cheers! kmc_20211111_011147.jpg kmc_20211111_011159.jpg kmc_20211111_011205.jpg kmc_20211111_011323.jpg

It doesn't look like an English name to me. It might be the artist, but written where and as it is, it might be a framer's note of who the painting belonged to.

@CluelessFarmBoy , purely speculation, but there is a listed California Artist named William Lemos ( the senior one , I think there was a junior) who painted a lot of unsigned California scenes and that sure looks like one in a signature gilded frame..... Where is this located ( they were sold as tourist items from his space at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk till he died in the 1940's ??? ) . What is the size ? The reason I ask is they seem to pop up all over the place , but I realize this could be one of any artist ........

His paintings vary in quality as he continued to paint as he progressively went blind.

I'm in Michigan and I acquired the painting during an estate sale, it belonged to a very wealthy neurosurgeon and his wife from East Lansing, Michigan, they did travel a lot from what I gathered, but it seemed they mostly traveled abroad from the souvenirs.
The painting is 44 inches diagonal not including the frame.
