    Hello!
Information from past years was this cameo likely 20's or 30's Conch Shell.
Pin back and pendant but maybe pin added as doesn't look old.
    Any information really appreciated!
    Thanks! 256419387_1007964859759936_571349436023478290_n.jpg 255355019_283862070290708_1883183672389682248_n.jpg 255845622_3162534690736965_108029751165301721_n.jpg 255370813_1091113791427293_3914716611858541433_n.jpg 255355019_283862070290708_1883183672389682248_n.jpg

80s or later is my guess. The nose is all wrong for 20s/30s as is the hair.

Hi, Donna. The cameo is cut in helmet shell. (Conch shell is pink & white.) She's another pretty lady, not identifiable as anyone in particular. I think she's too nice to be any time after the 50s. She doesn't have a classical nose, but more of a schnoz than those that came after her. My best shot is 30s - 40s.

I dug out a cameo I have with a setting somewhat similar to yours that I knew had an inscription including the date: 1947.

My cameo has a panel that was added to the back of the frame so that it could be inscribed 'Howard to Kay/Italy 1947. Don't spend time looking for a date on your cameo; it won't be there.

You're trying to trick me into thinking there are 4 cameos here, aren't you? :cyclops:

The first one is helmet shell. Looks like there is a mark for 800 silver on the back, with marcasites, an Italian setting. Wonder what cutter had in mind for her left shoulder? Typical would be a floral corsage. This could be the top of Diana's quiver peeking out, but to me it looks even more like the butterfly that accompanies Psyche. Maybe the right shoulder has the corsage. I would place this one also to the 30s - 40s.

You are correct that the second one is resin, although the color is very realistic. When a cameo figure wears jewellery or other accents that are applied, they are said to be en habillé. She is strictly a pretty lady type. Certainly a very sturdily made base metal mount. I do not know what the writing on it means. Is there one more letter, very faint, at the beginning? My feeling is that she is from the 50s.

Sorry for the duplicates. This belonged to my grandmother and I love it. I have been told the setting is 18k but have never had it tested.

Welcome, Kittie. First, have to point out that Bronwyn is a different member; I'm Bronwen. But if the subject is cameos, I'm on the scene.

How nice to have something beautiful from your grandmother. My cameos are all from someone else's grandmother.

Your cameo is cut in helmet shell. I think these are really pretty lady types, but because of the flowers, you will sometimes see them IDed as Flora. She was the It Girl of the first several decades of the 20th century. The hinge & clasp on yours say yours is from the later part of the range. Hope you wear her sometimes.

I do occasionally wear this and always receive compliments. My grandmother was a widow at 20 and I think this was a gift from a male suitor in the late 1920s or 1930s. She never remarried and raised my mother alone. My mom was 5 months old when her father, my grandfather was killed while working on the railroad. This was in 1918.
