If that hair receiver is 1920s it may be for cotton balls - used to remove makeup. By the 20s it wasn't so vorboten any more, and we had to get it off with something.

It happened in our family. When my aunt died, my father, her brother, was so heartbroken he took almost everything to the dump. He only kept some jewelry. He gave that to a sibling who was not responsible, that's all I will say....that sibling gave me my grandmother's platinum, diamond, and lavender star sapphire ring, which I wear. All else was lost or stolen. When my uncle passed, my father wanted me to have a special mirror he stored in his house, one of only three were made....a pink one, an amber one, and a blue one, not cobalt, but a rarer blue color. A beautiful winter scene of a couple in a sleigh and a church was etched in it. I didn't want it because I couldn't look at it without crying....it hung in my aunt's home, the one who passed and my dad took everything to the dump. I get why people do what they do. In the end, it's just stuff....you can't replace your loved ones.

I can understand not wanting to look at it. One tough memory after another, every time. I hope someone else in the family is taking care of it.

A couple more items from the latest clearance.

A 1950's-60's childs toy tin washing machine, boxed and unused.
Its so good, I'll explain, the washer is on top of the box.

A Carlton Crested China National Cash Register dated 1924, its nearly antique and has the Wembley crest on the reverse.
It is the English pre decimal version.

As a Yank I had to Google it. I have a friend who's as bad about the 1939 World's Fair. All sorts of odds and sods do turn up, especially in this part of the country.

Found this cool porcelain coffee pot and sugar bowl with eight cups & saucers for $7.50. It’s made in Spain by Apean, not a well known company but a great atomic design.

If you’re here on a Sunday, you have to come by the MS Marketplace. I opened a new hallway of rooms upstairs to rent and have one that I keep locked and full of crazy stuff.
There’s also a new shop across the street, little on the pricey side but fun to check out.
