    Hi All,

Anyone able to confirm whether this 16 inch Bisque Head doll is an early Kestner, as I'm suspecting, or another maker? The marking is "C2 Dep."
    TIA

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Wait for more expert opinions, but I thought I'd give you a link to the dollreference page for Kestner dolls. Not only did they make dolls for their own company, but also made heads for dolls manufactured by other companies.

I wish people who sell things online would please please please(!) give their sources of information regarding this sort of statement (for example, that C2 Dep is a Kestner mark). They might very well be correct, or they might have searched online and copied the info from an unverified source.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Looks like a mouse tried to make itself a home??? Too bad it ruined the back of that leather body.........:( Lovely porcelain parts left though!

I see you have it listed as such on eBay.

Not in my Encyclopedia of Dolls book by Coleman.

The marks that are listed do not have the Dep. wording.

Perhaps someone will see your listing and offer an ID.

Don't know how helpful this is but dep is short for depose which is ofc French, Kestner was based in Germany?
