This is an antique claddagh ring that say 835 and has some hallmark next to it. Any ideas on origin? E78924E2-9271-45DF-994B-CD66B6412425.jpeg 63C6899F-CD36-468B-ADA0-1D190BCB92BE.jpeg

I don't know the origin of this one, but I doubt it is a hundred years old.
The hands look more modernistic than traditional, the heart is not well formed either.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

First look, I thought it was maybe carved of stone........

I did the same double take, Aquitaine, due to the style of carving! :)
It appears to have been carved and cast out of a chunk of wax (lost wax method = cire perdue), the modern appearance of the carving of the hands could easily wind up to look like this. The ring is just tilty enough to make me think it was once an entire chunk. It's not easy to carve out a finished band along with the main design, all from one chunk of wax.

There are just not enough pictures of it to really tell a lot about it.
It's not fashioned as a classic cladaugh friendship ring ... ;)
Estaterestate, it may be a student piece, or a souvenir :)

Eh, to my eye, looks made to resemble a centuries old fede ring...

Agree, a Dutch replica of a Medieval or Renaissance fede ring. Could have been bought in a museum shop.

I once bought a gold plated silver replica of a Medieval Dutch spiral wedding ring with a nice inscription in the Rijksmuseum shop. The translation of the Medieval inscription is something like "Those who don't like me can just buzz off".:joyful:

A Claddagh ring is two hands holding a heart.
