    Hello,

I have found those lovely earrings, in glass and - quite astonishingly - what I think are bakelite prayer beads.
I never had bakelite pieces, but the beads have a rather distinctive and strong smell, even without rubbing the material. I'm not able to identify the glass - Murano?
On the listing, the earrings were dated from the 1950's, but there was no more information about them.

What else would it be possible to say about them?

    Thank you!

    Gorgeous, MmePlantier.
The beads do look like prayer beads, but they were also used in jewellery.
What do they smell like? Different materials have different smells. Many beads smell like formaldehyde, but a material like Yemeni Faturan can also smell of frankincense.
That would be my guess too.

I have a tin of frankincense at home, and the smells are indeed similar!

In that case, the beads could be Yemeni Faturan.
Faturan is like Bakelite, except manufacturers in Turkey and the Middle East often had their own recipes. Adding native frankincense is typical of Yemeni Faturan bead making. Yemeni beads are very collectible.
