I think you should leave the metal posts. Someone might have an appropriate stand. Let the buyer decide to remove or not.

Posted on the finds thread today, they gave me this link. Laid up for awhile, been looking to add to my vintage Barbie collection. American Girl Barbie, hardly played with, and #3 brunette Barbie, rarer blue eye shadow. 20220203_102332.jpg

Thanks. I really wanted a brunette with brown eye shadow. Still looking, but this one was too gorgeous to pass up. I am particular about the faces.

My childhood doll collection was ruined. My cousins cut hair and mangled my dolls, my little brother and sister were bored one day and buried dolls all over our 11 acres. Sigh. So...I am in the position to replace them and get the ones I always wanted. I do have fun looking at a local flea market, but I rarely find the vintage ones there. I do find newer collectible Barbies, though.

This is really a what do I do with this question. I got this old Kammer & Reinhardt 116 doll at auction for very little some years ago. The thing is, it's in need of repair. I believe the eyes are loose in the head and someone cut a hole in the back.

So....do I get it repaired or do I try to find it a home as is? And it's not one of the reproductions is it?

I would sell as is......a parts doll.

The eyes aren't a big problem to reset, but if they are broken, then they would have to be replaced. I have never seen a doll with a hole in the back. Must have been done to do some kind of repair.

The doll was made and marked 116 and116A.

    I'm unsure of the differences.

I'll post pics from my books next post.

Well.....I tried to delete the double photo, and fix the other image to show in full, but I failed. The 2nd image will click to full view.

Thank you so much for the information and advice! Is this something to put on ebay or etsy if i w er get back to them?

I removed the eye assembly as is was banging around in the head. One eye is broken in the back but look like it could be reset (at least to me:)). The other eye has goop so I'd have to clean it to see if it had been broken too.

This baby was literally sawn in half I think, with an access hole cut.

It did come with a bag of clothes though some are too small. Do you think any might be original to the doll?

Thank you so so much for your help!

I have not sold a doll on Etsy......just Ebay.

I am curious how you were able to remove the eyes.........did you remove the head? Or lift it high enough to grab the eyes?

The clothes are not of any great significance. The crocheted ones would be a later period. I think the yellow and pink one is cute.

I doubt any of them came with doll......dolls often were sold undressed....perhaps just a diaper and undershirt.

Some of the clothes could be appropriate for early compos, but it's really hard to tell from just pictures.

If you list the doll, list it as Parts doll only. As Is.

    Best of luck..............

Thank you so much for your help! I could hear things rolling around in the head and sort of tipped it back enough to let the loose things fall to the base of the neck and then just pulled them out. I think the loose eye would have gotten smashed by the loose weight had I left them longer.

I'll have to think on whether I want to list online again or not.

    Thank you again Judy!

    You're welcome!

I understand your reluctance of "online" listing.

Especially on ebay......no matter how good the photos, or the description, you stand the chance of selling to a lying buyer.

Thank you for the reveal on how you removed the eyes...........
