This is surreal - my mom passed away a few weeks ago and I went up to NC this week to close out her affairs - including her storage unit where I found this photo. It also had a LOT of boxes of Lash Larue stuff - including a movie poster that I think was the one shown above! (I gave Lash's stuff to my sister).
Lash was also my mom's boyfriend for about 10 years before he passed. I met him a couple of times when I went up there - He was cool; he was a born again Christian/preacher who enjoyed his own kind of home grown "tobacco"!
It makes sense now why it was in her unit!

That's putting mildly! I don't remember it, but my grandparents had side shows in a carnival/circus - my grandmother used to tell us our farm & us kids were the most popular in our town in Mich. because in the winter we kept elephants instead of cows in our pasture!
We found all kinds of photos last week; including the fat lady & the tattooed sword swallower who my big sister remembers babysitting us +one of my mom as a cowgirl on her trick horse Trigger - who could do math by counting the answer by hitting his hoof on the floor!

Sorry to hear about your Mom...RIP....
While the things you mention are great family history....& keepsakes.....they are also collectables.....& the stories you have should be written down...and accompany these items into the future.

    Sincere condolences...

In my mothers later years before passing, most every visit I had we enjoyed staying up late into the night sippin Grand Marnier(her night cap of choice), as she told me story after story of our families trials and errors, funny and sad momments(some she never dare tell me as a child ;)). She must have been a blast ;). I regret almost daily, I didn’t take notes as most all of those moments are now gone forever. :(

What @komokwa, says is very true. I would say your families past must have been 20 time more interesting and you should keep it forever in ink and memorabilia. Priceless for your future family and others.

PS, As a Rule of thumb, any portrait of a gunman with his finger actually resting on the trigger, stands a good chance of being not of the gunman. They just dont do that.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

@journeymagazine , I'm sorry to hear about your mother's passing. She did leave you lots of interesting memories, though. And what interesting stories!

I was working on this the other day and thought that the still looked later than the 1920s. Found some interesting info, but not the ID. Congratulations! And especially to @Cris Drugan ISA-AM -- great work.

Thanks all; I am still in disbelief. Going through some of the boxes as I unloaded the truck today I brought back with me I found some Lash Larue things; including a 10 cent Lash Larue comic, a Lash Larue 45 record, photos & movie stills, a signed contract to perform at the Nashville Palace, letters to my mom - PLUS! a ad or announcement of Lash Larue disco dance group at the Las Vegas Hilton's casino lounge! (was that young man with a mustache Lash or did they just use his name?!)
Again, thank you for your thoughts and words and prayers.
