(not sure if this is the correct forum, pls move if needed!)

I found this very small pin with a bunch of other pins and various other stuff dating from 1900-1920, from my great grandparents. It appears to show a bearded man seated in the company of a bunch of ladies, all wearing some sort of ceremonial collars. Seems to be banners/flags in the background…honestly it’s a bit creepy! The photo is so small what you see in the pics here is about as much detail as there is. My relatives were heavy into Templar, Shriners, Odd Fellows and Free Masonry. I’m wondering if this is somehow related to these affiliations, however a pin doesn’t seem to match stylistically with the normal fanfare of badges and medals. Sorry for the long story!!
    Thanks so much!!

Eastern Star? Think they have a male adviser or something.

They are definitely in one of those sorts of organizations, but the pin is not necessarily part of organization regalia. From what little I can make out of the women's dress and hair, I think the photo dates from around the late 1890s to very early 1900s. Is there no way to make out lettering on the banners, even with a magnifier? What is the pin's size? Can we see the back of it?

I think some people here have more knowledge of fraternal orgs than I do. I hope somebody sees this and can add useful info.

Easter Star is probably correct!! The pin is just too blurry. It’s the same size as a half-dollar…here’s a shot of the back:

You can date your pinback to the 1890s by the leg o'mutton sleeves.

And the back of the pin gives a patent date in May of '98. Of course, the photo could be older but the type of sleeves, not as full as in about 1895-96, seems to indicate a later date.
