    Is it a Mortar base or spittoon?
    No marks
    Iron, 7" top diameter, 5.5" tall and about 9 lbs

    What is the shape of the interior cavity? Bottom convex or flat? Does it follow that flare at the base? If it's a mortar, seems like an ill-designed one. Is spittoon the only other option?
