Featured Red stone ring id

hi folks

found this in a charity shop today. was only 50p so doesnt matter if its nothing

looks like silver to me though i havent tested and its totally unmarked

cant decide if its junky or not. thought it looked quite well made but unsure

cant work out what the stone could be ?

any thoughts appreciated

 

Hit it with some dish detergent and a toothbrush and then show us how much it sparkles................!​

 

It looks like silver, but best to test it.

If it is silver, it could be carnelian. There is also carnelian glass though. Another test.

 

did make them sparkle aqui, but dont think they are anything special being set in silver, shows the stone better in this light though

Coral?

 

I bet you that stone looks cloudy because someone dipped it in tarnex or the like. I wonder if one could buff it ? pretty little thing.

 

From the way the back is made, I'd be wondering if it wasn't white gold; that setting is all wrong for costume. I'd have the stones tested just in case.

 

Might be coral. I'd try a smear of cerium oxide paste or Barkeepers Friend on my finger on it.

 

Until OP IDs the stone I would not try anything!
