    Don't let @Bronwen see that!

Bless me Echo, for I have Rummaged. Came home with $15 in jewelry. I paid $17 but I think two pins flew the coop before I got home. One pin has British Exeter marks of all the goofy things, but the back hardware that looks original says more 1920. T'is a puzzlement.

I’ve been on a roll at the Charity shops recently.
This morning at the Charity shops yielded these silver butterfly earrings and from another shop this diamond chip 14k butterfly pendant and chain. Cost in total £2.50. I must start taking my loupe with me as I thought it was silver.

I found this Champleve lamp, circa 1920, at a garage sale. Brass body, wooden base with a stamped brass band. Needs a shade, rewiring, and a lot of TLC, but for $5 USD, I could not pass it up:

Rosenthal studio lines pottery? You won't hav a problem reselling that. No problem at all.

That's an older Chinese enamel lamp, too boot. I wouldn't have passed that by for $5 either! It was probably always a lamp, but I'm betting it's 100 years old if not a bit older. No wonder she's a bit tatty.

My find of the day was a steep discount rack at the local CVS. The store wanted to get rid of their Summer merch that all seems to have survived the Summer. It went from full price to 90% off at one swoop, and I was apparently there when it went. $13 and a full cart later, out I went with Christmas gifts and chocolate and TP and and and...

Earlier, I found a signed pitcher and single glass in the ReStore for $10 the pair. They're signed legibly, but I need to research a bit. DSCF7141.JPG DSCF7140.JPG

That's sixties Rosenthal and lovely. We had an au pair from Rosenheim then. Her mama worked for Rosenthal and sent us many things, which I still own.

No, it is more like a very fine nylon netting. It seemed the jewelry in the box was from the 1980s. I have never seen it before on pearls.

I must be going to the wrong CVS, they never have sales of anything I need or want or in stock.

I never take my loupe out in front of sellers....they end up louping themselves and there goes the good stuff.

Yes, I know what you mean but I just don’t see tiny marks the way I used to and I’m looking so closely at stuff like Mr Mcgoo so I’m thinking they probably notice me doing that. Do you take a tiny magnet with you instead? I’m thinking of doing that but worry it will demagnetise my credit cards.

If you have an iPhone, there is a built in magnifier that will allow you to see these types of details. You may need to enable it in your settings. It may help hide the fact that your looking for marks

Thanks, I had a read and it does say the rare earth magnets (I’ve a little neodymium I use at home for jewellery) can easily wipe cards so
I would still be concerned it would affect them so I’ll see if I can buy a small regular type magnet, that would help a bit. The neodymium is the best, it spots plated fakes marked 925 that regular magnets don’t.

Rare Earth magnets can damage lots of things if put too close to items, Smart phones can be wiped, I know this from personal experience. car remote fobs, tablets and GPS

I carry a small magnet from a kid's toy in my purse, but nothing stronger. It weeds out obvious junk and I use my eyeballs for the rest.

Me either. I'm pretty nearsighted so I just pull my glasses down or look under. That which my eyeballs miss my fingernails ususally catch.
