    It turned out beautifully. Good thing you have daughters to hand them on to since sons seem to be at a loss for what to do with them.

    Is that Aniello Pernice's work? He's excellent, best I'm aware of among contemporary cameo cutters. I have a Phaeton by him.

    It was funny. He listed it on eBay as Aurora & I wrote to say Phaeton. He said he knew. Evidently he didn't trust eBay shoppers to know. It was unsigned but I asked him to sign it before shipping.

    He passed the test. It's the only contemporary cameo I have. It was the subject & the skill that made me depart from the older ones. I find so many modern Italian ones cartoonish.

    I am constantly shocked at how little info many auction houses provide even for very pricey items. I'd like to see the back of this one too. Trying to decide whether to buy it. I wish.

    When that showed up in the Finds thread I figured Bronwen would like him. There has to be a Mona Lisa cameo out there somewhere too.
