Can anyone tell me if these look authentic. All the searches I have done say yes, except for the serial number?
These have a serial number on the right ear piece PC1501548.
I read that serial numbers after 2003 were etched into the lens?
I can not find this style showing the serial number either.

I LOVE them!!!! These would do great at auction. The numbers look correct. I would think they were earlier then 2003. Are they acrylic? You might be able to contact Chanel and ask.

I tried, Chanel doesn't have a database for serial number searching, And the nice lady on the phone with customer service couldn't help me either.

Well SHOOT! Have you googled Chanel authenticators to see if a 'expert' would answer you question without having to pay them for written authenticity?

Not an expert in these, but of course you have to be careful of repros, etc. It's a nice design in any case.

Just took a look at the sold listing, and head's up... there is a note that the seller "relisted the item" and when you click on that relisted item (showing the same glasses) the glasses were unsold. Hard to know what happened there, non-paying bidder? Sent back?

I'd take a very good look at the quality in the hand, maybe do a bit more research with the number. If it's the real deal they have nice resale. Hope they are good!

Bidder never paid! Seller filed an unpaid item dispute. re listed them twice more with no bids.

I’m always very weary of sunglasses and don’t mess with them for too much money. If I can get pairs I can sell for $40-$70 for under $10 I’ll buy them. I figure they are not super worth knocking off in that range anyways. On the other hand I bought a Chanel handbag at auction recently. I felt confident based on the estates nice items and reputable auction house. I ended up making like $900 or so over what I paid.

A4U is a great authenticator but I don’t think they do sunglasses. Regardless, the buyer doesn’t need to waste the money unless they feel that a professional authentication will help to protect the listing if selling online. If all they need to know is authenticity, all they have to do is to take them to any professional optical shop that does prescription glasses and ask if they’re optical quality meaning that they can take a prescription. All true modern luxury sunglasses are prescription quality (Gucci, Chanel, Hermes, Vuitton, Prada) EXCEPT if they’re shields or wraps). The OP’s must be optical quality but they look pretty good to me but always best to double check. Counterfeits are never optical quality.

Isn't there a site called therealreal that maybe could help you out? Not sure, just throwing out some ideas.

If in fact A4U does glasses it's money well spent imho for this very reason, especially in today's selling climate. Their nod of approval can save a lot of headaches down the road with ebay, etsy, buyers, etc. I don't believe a random optician's word would do the same, let alone get them to go on record with any of the aforementioned parties in the first place.

That said, the specs are gorgeous and appear authentic to my eyes. My opinion might change if I had them in hand. Good luck OP!

Well I have great news. Chanel has an anti counterfeit team. Who knew... Although they don't do authentication. With a few simple questions and pictures I was told this not counterfeit.

Mikey, for future reference, i’m pretty sure A4U does not do sunglasses and I stand by my post that designer sunnies are optical quality (with the aforementioned exceptions) and if an optician says they’re optical quality, they’re genuine.

BTW the RealReal definitely will take luxury designer sunglasses.

What do you consider "optical quality"?

It’s not about “what I would consider”. It’s the term used for a frame that is constructed to accommodate a prescription lens. Counterfeits are not optical quality. Luxury designer frames are all optical quality unless they’re extreme wraps or shields.
