Welp, 3 votes for mahogany on photos. Still, I have been fooled more than once on photographs of wood and, there are over 30? different species of rosewood. Brazilian being the most sought after.
Pretty much unavailable these days, guitar makers were getting rosewood from Madagascar I think but even that source has been outlawed.

As far as I know, all Rio Palisander/Brazilian jacaranda/Brazilian rosewood has been protected for at least a few decades. A friend of mine had his Flamenco guitar made from old stock Rio Palisander in the 1990s. It was already impossible to get new wood then, even in Spain where a lot of Rio Palisander was used.

Well, while I love this piano (it was my after high school activity and friend), I need to get rid of it. My gut tells me its worth more as 110 year old lumber than as a piano (as a piano it would sell for about $500 in perfect condition).
Where would I get a definitive ID as to the type of wood? Does anyone know of a place near Portland Oregon that can ID it?

I am not sure that is correct, have you made any inquiries on its value as an instrument?
Here is a link to the same website I posted earlier only a different page that offers FAQ about the values of antique pianos.

Thanks for the tip! I've emailed them to see if they want to buy it.
