Featured Sevres pseudomarks I think...

Personal opinion: I think the decoration of the tureens is naive for Sevres. I think Stulz is more likely. When you've got a known decorator who used that particular mark and decorated in that particular style, an ID is going to lean in that direction.

What about the transparent rectangular shape around the "S" logo? Am IK seeing things or isn't it fishy?

Molded, or just a slightly different color? If there is a rectangle, that could indicate that the mark is a fired-on decal, which would support the decorator notion.

Thanks. I'm a rookie in that domain with lots to learn still. More into military antiques to be honest. Back to your last feedback: A fired-on decal would be a bad thing? Would it be still be a Stulz? To be honest, the seller is asking for $200. Is this a fair price? And is this a vintage turren in your opinion? As a reminder, dimensions are: 60 cm (width) x 40 cm (height)... too many questions, sorry!

I don't think it's Sevres, as the others say, but google Gustav Stulz AG Strasbourg. I think all these pieces (the soupiere, the tea caddy and that musical figurine group) with that style mark and a capital "S" are very likely by him. He was a decorator, not a manufacturer- the blanks could have been by anyone if there are no other marks. I am not an expert, and there is not a lot known about Stulz, unfortunately. It's possible that some studios also "copied" his Sevres "copy" mark?...

Some of the larger pieces I've seen by Carl Thieme (Potschappel) Dresden, have that kind of slightly raised look around the hallmark... I agree Moreotherstuff, it seems to be a thing with decorators. I would not put my certainty that this is Stulz any higher than 80 percent, for what it's worth!

I think it's a lovely piece, the price doesn't seem outrageous to me.
